So what have I done LATELY? I.E. The importance of a current review....

June 15, 2010 Bloggies by Josh Pressnell

Okay folks. I don't normally put out an all points... but I'm going to just this once. PLEASE keep your reviews updated. I'm starting to learn that I'm only really as good as the reviews for my CURRENT version on the app store. So every time I post new and improved versions, I have to start all over. Several of you have posted updated reviews on a regular basis. I THANK EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU. I'll have version 2.2 out in the next few weeks. Version 2.2 includes some incredible performance updates as well as local library search (find libraries that carry books you want!) and some great new skins. I'd love to show the world out there that iBookshelf really *IS* the best in its class. Love to you all for sticking with me... and for all the wonderful emails you've sent. THANK YOU!

New Release

June 11, 2010 Bloggies by Josh Pressnell

For those of you who have gotten used to my regular monthly or bimonthly releases, you might be wondering what happened to me. I'm still here... and I have big plans.

I've been working on some new data licenses that will allow me to to bring you local library data. That's right. In the next version, iBookshelf, My Library, My Box Office, and Disc Tracker will all be powered by WorldCat's library network. Every item you have in your database that has an ISBN or UPC code can be searched and the nearest member libraries which have that item will be presented to you.

Have fun finding books, movies and CDs to borrow!

I'm just waiting on a few more contracts to get approved and the next version will be released to Apple.

New Hosting Option

June 11, 2010 Bloggies by Josh Pressnell

Many users have been having problems with my network import feature. You can create the CSV files or you have the .bak files, but using fileave.com or some other free hosting service is a pain and finding the "direct link" just isn't working.

I feel your pain. I've created a "temporary backup hosting" area on my website to support you. Starting now, you can upload your backup files to my site. My site will provide you with the appropriate direct link to enter into the app for import.

Files will only be saved on my server for a maximum of one hour, however, so this is not a permanent storage solution. It's there to allow you to more easily import your backups or CSV import files.

Enjoy!

Free Scanning Option

May 28, 2010 Bloggies by Josh Pressnell

Pic2Shop has opened up their application to allow indirect scanning for anyone that has their free app installed.  The mechanism is a little clunky, as MY app has to close and load THEIR app.  You then scan and their app closes and restarts MY app, allowing you to add the book.  Red Laser is still the best and I will continue to offer Red Laser scanning as a paid add-on.  However, for those users who have been griping and giving me a hard time about paying for scanning, maybe Pic2Shop is good enough for you.
